When To See The Dermatologist

As you age, you're going to notice you have more than just a primary physician. One of those physicians you should start to have is a dermatologist. If you've never been to the dermatologist, you should probably make an appointment. You may have something on your body that should be checked or treated. If you aren't sure if you should go to the dermatologist, read on for a few reasons to go to the dermatologist.

You Have A Rash

If you have a rash on your body that you aren't able to get rid of, or a rash that is accompanied by other issues such as swelling, oozing, puss-filled pimples, or redness, you should seek help from a dermatologist. You may have more than just a simple rash. You could have some other skin issues such as Eczema, Rosacea, ringworm, or even an allergic reaction. If you have a rash and you aren't able to get rid of it, you should go to the dermatologist for an exam and for proper treatment.

You Have A Changing Mole

If you have a mole that is changing or has changed in some sort of way, such as color, size, or shape, you should go to the dermatologist for an exam and have the mole checked. Your mole may need to be scraped and tested in order to see if it's cancerous or benign. The cells are tested under a microscope and if there aren't any cancerous cells, the mole would be monitored for further changes. If you have cancerous cells, the mole may need to be removed and further testing will be necessary.

You Have Problems With Acne

If you have problems with acne and aren't able to clear it up, you should seek help from a dermatologist. If your acne is difficult to get rid of, it may not be acne at all. You may have some other skin issue, or it could be a hormonal concern, or you may have Rosacea or even hand, foot, mouth. If you have a problem with acne, and you've tried traditional acne treatments, you may need a medicated treatment to clear up your acne.

If you have any issues with your skin that you aren't able to clear up on your own, or you have any concerning skin conditions, you should make an appointment with a dermatologist to have these skin issues treated properly. Reach out to someone like Hamzavi Dermatology to learn more.
